Building Devices and Vehicles that Move -- Spring Break Project

Dear Parents,

As part of our Science unit on Building Devices and Vehicles that Move, students are being asked to construct a model of a moving device at home.  They have selected a blueprint, (instruction sheet,) of their choice, and these can also be found on D2L.  This should only be made out of recycled materials so that there is no cost.  Pre-made wheels and axles from toy cars, etc. should not be used.  For example, if making a car, it can be as simple as using a juice box, wrapping it with paper, and making a design on it.  Then, students could use a straw and milk jug lids as the wheels and axles.  These are small models that should be no bigger than a shoebox.  All models should be decorated as well.

They will be bringing their models back to school on April 11^th, 2011, after Spring Break to share with the class.  Have fun completing the project together!  We look forward to comparing our designs when we get back.
