Building Devices and Vehicles that Move -- Spring Break Project

Dear Parents,

As part of our Science unit on Building Devices and Vehicles that Move, students are being asked to construct a model of a moving device at home.  They have selected a blueprint, (instruction sheet,) of their choice, and these can also be found on D2L.  This should only be made out of recycled materials so that there is no cost.  Pre-made wheels and axles from toy cars, etc. should not be used.  For example, if making a car, it can be as simple as using a juice box, wrapping it with paper, and making a design on it.  Then, students could use a straw and milk jug lids as the wheels and axles.  These are small models that should be no bigger than a shoebox.  All models should be decorated as well.

They will be bringing their models back to school on April 11th, 2011, after Spring Break to share with the class.  Have fun completing the project together!  We look forward to comparing our designs when we get back.
